Summary
The Staffing Specialist prepares, processes, and balances staffing schedules for multiple departments and monitors for chronic over/under staffing situations utilizing a comprehensive knowledge of Kronos and Excel. This position maintains accurate staffing documentation for the Clinical Resource Team to facilitate appropriate resource assignments, and may assist with more immediate staffing needs, such as cancellations and reassignments.

The Staffing Specialist prepares, processes, and balances staffing schedules for multiple departments and monitors for chronic over/under staffing situations utilizing a comprehensive knowledge of Kronos and Excel. This position maintains accurate staffing documentation for the Clinical Resource Team to facilitate appropriate resource assignments, and may assist with more immediate staffing needs, such as cancellations and reassignments.
Responsibilities
- Calculate and compare current staffing totals to current and short-term projected unit census in order to determine projected staffing needs
- Prepare, process, and balance planning spreadsheets for future scheduling periods
- Prepare reports with current and project staffing counts
- Identify chronic over and under staffing situations on patient care units
- Enter information accurately in multiple software applications and prepare/distribute reports in a timely manner
- Enter schedule changes in Kronos
- Review time off requests proactively to maintain balanced staffing across units
- Maintain and update accurate employee work profiles (shift, skill level, unit oriented to etc), and template
- In coordination with the Staffing Coordinator, anticipate patient discharges and admissions, assign the CRT float pool staff as needed, plan staff reassignments and cancellations, and communicate with staff to notify them of their assignments, reassignments, and cancellations as patient census or demand fluctuates; enter schedule changes in Kronos.
- Assist with a variety of staffing needs, utilizing comprehensive knowledge of Kronos and Excel
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years experience with scheduling staff and processing payroll required.
- Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Four-year Bachelor's degree preferred.
