Summary
This position independently operates ultrasound equipment used to produce quality diagnostic echocardiography to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform inpatient and outpatient diagnostic cardiac sonograms in accordance with the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) guidelines for digital image acquisition.
- Perform advanced echo imaging including echo guidance for interventional procedures, such as ECMO, LVAD, ASD devices, Balloon Septostomy, and PCE taps.
- Assist with intraoperative TEE.
- Responsible for performing, archiving and calculations of all pediatric cardiac ultrasound imaging by using appropriate machine optimization, probe selection and patient positioning.
- Utilize critical thinking skills and a segmental approach while imaging to produce diagnostic high-quality studies in normal to complex congenital heart defects.
- Participate fully in call schedule including satellite areas.
- Participate in biweekly educational echo conferences and clinical research studies.
- Preceptor for students and fellows.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- At least 1 year job related experience Required
- At least 2 years job related experience Preferred
- Research experience Preferred
- Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Echocardiography Required
- Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Preferred
- Certified in Pediatric Echo by ARDMS or CCI (ARDMS is preferred over CCI) Required
- Certified in one (1) of the following: Fetal, Adult, Vascular Preferred
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
