A fast growing, PE backed consumer products company in Austin is looking to add a Controller to their leadership team. Founded by a group of outdoor enthusiasts, this company has scaled to $170M in revenue and is continuing to grow aggressively. With a recent investment from one of the largest private equity firms in the world, this is a rare opportunity to get your foot in the door at a high trajectory organization with serious upside.
The incoming CFO is building out his team and looking for a Controller who can come in and take full ownership of the accounting function, clean up and strengthen the books, and help prepare the company for a future sale. This is not a caretaker role. It is a high impact position for someone who is career focused, technically sharp, and energized by fast paced environments.
What You Will Be Doing
- Owning the full accounting function including month end close, financial reporting, and GAAP compliance
- Managing and developing a team of 4 direct reports across the US and internationally
- Cleaning up and standardizing the books and optimizing the company's ERP system
- Overseeing inventory accounting across an omnichannel retail operation with major retail partners
- Supporting M&A due diligence and helping prepare the company to go to market
- Partnering closely with the CFO and board on financial strategy and reporting
- Building and improving internal controls and accounting processes to support continued scale
What You Bring
- Active CPA required
- 5 to 15 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong GAAP and technical accounting foundation
- Background in CPG, manufacturing, or omnichannel retail strongly preferred
- Inventory accounting experience is a must
- M&A and due diligence experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience at a PE backed company a plus
- Experience managing teams including offshore or international direct reports
- Strong communicator with a naturally inquisitive mindset and excellent presentation skills
- Public accounting background considered if from a transaction advisory group
