Controller

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering exclusively with a growing privately held organization in Crofton, MD to identify a Controller to join its leadership team. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity within a multi-entity environment for someone who enjoys owning the accounting function, partnering closely with operations, and helping drive process improvement within a growing business.

The Controller will oversee month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting support, and day-to-day accounting operations. This role works closely with the CFO and will be heavily involved in the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations across a multi-entity environment
• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting reporting schedules
• Support cash management activities, including cash positioning, reporting, and coordination with leadership as needed
• Support variance analysis and provide financial reporting to assist budgeting and forecasting processes
• Partner closely with leadership and operational teams to support financial visibility and decision-making
• Manage external audit coordination, compliance-related activities, and overall accounting accuracy
• Identify and implement process improvements to support efficiency and scalability within the accounting function

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including prior leadership or controllership experience
• Strong experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and multi-entity accounting environments
• Experience working in operationally driven environments with exposure to financial analysis and reporting
• ERP systems experience required; NetSuite experience is a plus
• Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and ability to operate independently in a hands-on environment
