JOB DESCRIPTION: Mechanical Engineer I

FLSA Status: Regular, Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Engineer I creates new designs and utilizes existing designs while keeping customer requirements in focus. The Mechanical Engineer I independently executes standard engineering assignments and interfaces with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service departments to support customer orders and manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process customer orders and configure standard Chemcut equipment.
- Create component, assembly, fabrication, and installation drawings.
- Create and maintain bills of materials, manuals, and engineering documentation.
- Size pumps, plumbing, filters, heating, and cooling systems for standard applications.
- Select appropriate materials of construction, including plastics, metals, and elastomers, based on chemical compatibility requirements.
- Support manufacturing, production, sales, and service departments.
- Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.
- Support new product development projects and engineering improvement initiatives.
- Support cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.
- Manage standard customer orders from engineering release through production support.
- Interface with engineering colleagues and other departments, providing input and direction within assigned areas.
- May require occasional travel and overtime.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BSME or equivalent.
- 0-3 years of engineering experience.
- Machine design experience preferred.
- Must have good communication skills working in a team environment.
- Strong ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- AutoCAD, Inventor, Microsoft Word and Excel, AS/400 Database, and Infor/Syteline experience preferred.
