JOB DESCRIPTION: Electrical Engineer II

POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Engineer II independently designs custom controls systems and leads electrical engineering activities on assigned projects. This position serves as a technical resource for automation and controls projects, interfaces directly with customers and suppliers, supports commissioning and troubleshooting, and mentors junior engineering personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Design custom machine control systems, electrical architectures, panel layouts, and control packages.
- Lead electrical engineering activities from order entry through startup, debug, installation, and commissioning.
- Review customer specifications and develop engineered controls solutions that meet project requirements.
- Develop advanced PLC programs, HMI applications, relay logic, and control system documentation.
- Review electrical schematics, panel layouts, bills of materials, PLC programs, and HMI designs prepared by others.
- Specify drives, motors, sensors, safety devices, instrumentation, and automation hardware for custom systems.
- Interface directly with customers and suppliers on technical matters.
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action efforts for electrical and controls issues.
- Lead automation improvement projects and portions of new controls platform development.
- Mentor Electrical Engineer I personnel and interns.
- May require occasional travel and overtime.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- EE, EET, EMET, Automation, Mechatronics, or equivalent technical degree/experience.
- 3-8 years of electrical, controls, automation, or machine control design experience.
- Strong PLC and HMI programming experience, preferably Studio 5000 Logix Designer and FactoryTalk.
- Industrial controls, machine automation, and electrical design experience.
- Experience with drives, sensors, instrumentation, panel layout, and control system troubleshooting.
- Strong project leadership skills and ability to manage technical deliverables.
- Experience working directly with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and field service personnel.

Physical Requirements

- May require travel up to 5-10%.
- May require occasional overtime based on project or customer needs.
