- Provides practical advice, suggestions, and strategies of recovery to patients as an empowering helper with the perspective of being a recipient of services in the past.
- Provide one-on-one and group sessions.
- Interact with patients in the general milieu; focusing on current recovery and tools used to be successful.
- Provide hope, support, education, and assist patients in setting recovery goals.
- Provide input, as part of the treatment team, on the patient’s care.
- Document in patient record.
- Provide therapeutic milieu monitoring and safety management.

Must meet eligibility requirements

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Peer Specialist certification, preferred. Certification is required within one (1) year of hire date.
- Peer Specialist on an inpatient psychiatric unit preferred.
- Able to manage stressful situations and display appropriate work demeanor and boundaries.
- Ability to pass a level II Background clearance and drug test.
