What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parent Support Clinician position at CHARLOTTE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE INC?
- Provide family and caregiver-focused therapy addressing parent–child relationships, communication patterns, boundaries, and behavioral responses.
- Deliver brief, goal-oriented interventions that support the youth’s treatment plan and family engagement.
- Support caregivers in understanding their child’s mental health symptoms, emotional needs, and behavior through psychoeducation and therapeutic guidance.
- Coach caregivers in developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed parenting strategies aligned with the youth’s clinical goals.
- Facilitate structured family sessions to improve connection, consistency, and emotional regulation within the household.
- Collaborate closely with Therapists, Case Managers, Mentors, and other FST team members to ensure coordinated, unified care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and treatment planning.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization related to family or relational distress as clinically indicated.
- Identify when caregivers may benefit from separate individual therapy and provide appropriate referrals without providing ongoing individual adult treatment.
- Complete all clinical documentation, assessments, and treatment plans accurately and within required timeframes.
- Deliver services using strength-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Strong understanding of family systems, parenting dynamics, and caregiver stress.
- Ability to engage caregivers who may feel overwhelmed, resistant, or disengaged.
- Effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and clinical documentation.

Must meet eligibility requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field required.
- Education or experience providing therapy to adults, families, or caregivers preferred.
- Education or experience working with youth with mental health or co-occurring disorders strongly preferred.
