Job Title: Court Case Manager
Reports To: Executive Director (or Program Director, if applicable)
Pay Range: $22 – $26/hour (Commensurate with experience and funding)
Work Location: County Courthouse / Agency Office
Funding Source: This position is supported through grant/contract funding and may be modified based on funding availability and program requirements.
Position Summary
The Domestic Violence Court Advocate serves as a vital liaison between survivors of domestic violence and Family Courts within Livingston County. The advocate ensures survivors understand their rights, legal options, and available community resources, while promoting safety, empowerment, and trauma-informed engagement throughout the court process. The advocate ensures the survivors are informed, feel supported, and empowered throughout the legal process while promoting safety and confidentiality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide trauma-informed advocacy and support to survivors of domestic violence.
- Provide coverage for agency programs during employee absences, vacancies, trainings, or increased service demands.
- Answer the 24-hour hotline, provide crisis intervention, safety planning, information, and referrals.
- Provide shelter support, including resident assistance, conflict resolution, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.
- Assist clients with accessing community resources, housing, financial assistance, transportation, and other supportive services.
- Conduct client intakes, assessments, advocacy, and follow-up services as assigned.
- Provide court, hospital, law enforcement, community outreach, or other advocacy services when assigned.
- Transport clients when appropriate.
- Complete accurate documentation, statistics, and reports in accordance with agency and funding requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies, grant requirements, and applicable laws.
- Participate in required trainings and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties necessary to ensure uninterrupted client services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Human Services, or related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in victim services, domestic violence advocacy, or court-based programs preferred.
- Knowledge of NY State court systems, orders of protection, and domestic violence laws.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations with empathy, professionalism, and cultural humility.
- Strong organizational, communication, and crisis-intervention skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, data entry systems).
Required Training
- Completion of OPDV Core Domestic Violence Advocate Training within six (6) months of hire.
- Completion of Mandated Reporter Training within required timeframes.
- Participation in ongoing training related to shelter safety, trauma-informed care, and emergency response. (Other trainings as deemed necessary by OCFS and the agency)
Working Conditions
- Primarily courthouse and office settings; occasional community outreach.
- May require periodic travel to partner agencies.

- Consistent documentation and compliance with funding/reporting standards.
- Client satisfaction and positive feedback from the court and partner agencies.
- Active participation in multidisciplinary collaboration and training.
- Demonstrated commitment to survivor-centered and trauma-informed practice.
