Special Educator - Alternative Classroom (One-Year, 2026-2027)
Location: Champlain Valley Union High School

The Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking an innovative, energetic, and collaborative special educator to join the Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) community as a teacher in our alternative program. The Compass program has been developed to provide core instructional services for students in grades 9-12 with social/emotional challenges and other disabilities. We are seeking a professional with demonstrated leadership, organization and problem-solving skills who matches our passion for an integrated special education service delivery model within a multi-tiered system of supports.
The ideal candidate will have a background in teaching students with social/emotional and behavioral challenges with a goal of reintegration. Knowledge of special education rules and regulations, and a solid ability to integrate a variety of assessment information to develop intervention programs is required. An understanding of proficiency-based instruction is beneficial.
Master’s degree or equivalent in Special Education or other appropriate discipline plus 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in providing special education services is preferred. Dual licensure in a STEM field (math/science) strongly preferred.
