Adult Program Director – CU Special Recreation
Champaign Park District – Part-Time 1, Non-Exempt (hours not to exceed 29 hours per week on average)

Make a meaningful impact by leading engaging and inclusive programs for adults with disabilities. As the Adult Program Director, you’ll plan and facilitate a variety of recreational activities—from sports and fitness to arts and community outings—while creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment where participants can thrive. This role is perfect for someone who is compassionate, organized, and motivated to lead both participants and staff.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead inclusive recreational programs, including sports, arts, social events, and community outings
- Supervise and support participants with varying abilities, ensuring safety and engagement
- Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to support staff and volunteers
- Develop weekly lesson plans and prepare program materials and spaces
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, and program staff regarding progress and needs
- Implement behavior management strategies and follow all risk management procedures
- Assist with personal care, mobility support, and daily living needs as required
- Coordinate logistics for programs, including supplies, transportation, and field trips (including overnight trips)
- Maintain accurate documentation and program records
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, training requirements, and Park District procedures

Qualifications:- Must be at least 18 years old, 21 preferred.
- Interest in working with individuals with disabilities.
- One (1) year of experience leading or creating program activities.
- Two (2) of direct experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Available to work occasional nights and weekends.
