Job Duties
- Manage the full end-to-end payroll cycle for a national employee base, ensuring everything is accurate and on time.
- Take the lead on all multi-state payroll tax processes, including filings, amendments, and proactive audit prep.
- Support and coach a team of payroll specialists.
- Serve as the main point of contact for complex bonus and commission payments, making sure calculations align with agreements and are ready for audit.
- Drive ongoing process improvements and help with system upgrades to make the workflow more efficient.
- Work closely with HR, Finance, and executive leadership to ensure payroll strategy stays aligned with the rest of the business.
- Handle the heavy lifting of reconciliations and ensure data integrity across all payroll systems.
- At least 3 years of experience directly managing a payroll team in a multi-state environment.
- Solid experience supporting a large national population (1,000 employees).
- Strong technical knowledge of payroll tax, year-end procedures, and deep reconciliation work.
- A natural ability to build relationships across different departments like HR and Finance.
- A practical, problem-solving mindset—you’re someone who likes to fix things rather than just report on them.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid setup, typically spending two days a week in the office.
