Payroll Accountant

Salary Range: $60,000–$75,000

Position Type: Full‑Time

Location: Onsite in Columbus, OH

Position Summary

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing for a multi‑employee organization, along with related benefits administration and accounting support. This role partners closely with employees, HR, and Finance to ensure payroll compliance, benefit accuracy, and smooth day‑to‑day financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried staff.
• Handle both union and non‑union payroll.
• Ensure accuracy with pay rates, deductions, withholdings, and compliance requirements.
• Maintain payroll data within the payroll system and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Review monthly benefit billing statements and reconcile for accuracy.
• Serve as a resource for employee questions related to the 401(k) plan.
• Assist with employee education by helping coordinate financial counseling sessions.
• Participate in and support the annual 401(k) audit process.
• Perform accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions as needed.
• Reconcile corporate credit card statements and ensure proper documentation and coding.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of payroll processing experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience processing union payroll preferred.
• Strong Excel skills required.
