What The Assistant Controller Will Do

What The Assistant Controller Will Do
- Oversee the month-end and quarter-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Review and approve complex journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Manage general ledger integrity across multiple entities and business units
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements and reporting packages
- Partner with leadership on acquisition integration, accounting assessments, and process alignment
- Implement and strengthen internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures across the organization
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accounting insights and variance explanations
- Liaise with auditors and manage all audit deliverables, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Mentor and develop staff, providing leadership, training, and performance oversight
- Identify opportunities to automate workflows, upgrade systems, and improve financial accuracy and efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including senior accountant, accounting manager, or assistant controller responsibilities
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP, consolidations, multi-entity reporting)
- Experience in a PE-backed, high-growth, or acquisitive environment preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large, complex data sets
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience supervising and developing staff
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present to leadership
- Proactive mindset with the ability to streamline processes and drive efficiency
- Is ready to step into a leadership role with high visibility and influence
