- Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable and bank activity
- Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger chart of accounts and prepare trial balances
- Prepare, analyze, and review quarterly and year‑end financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles (SAP), and insurance regulations
- Support statutory reporting requirements, including Workers’ Compensation and state insurance filings
- Assist with year‑end audit preparation and coordination
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Identify process improvements and recommend efficiency enhancements
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, and development for accounting staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within insurance, financial services, or a regulated industry
- Strong knowledge of GAAP; statutory accounting experience preferred
- Experience with month‑end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prior supervisory or team‑lead experience
- High proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
- Property & Casualty or Workers’ Compensation insurance experience strongly preferred
