Position Title: Municipal Project Manager
Location: City of Miami Office of Capital Improvements– In-office with routine travel to project sites
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $105,000 – $125,000 annually
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Position Overview
The Municipal Project Manager is responsible for serving as a full-time Project Manager to manage, coordinate, and integrate multiple, concurrent Municipal Infrastructure projects, at specific stages from initial concept through design, construction and warranty phases. This includes projects in the categories of parks, roads, underground utilities, low-level structure, and related municipal facilities and may involve managing repairs or upgrades to these facilities. The PM is expected to embrace a collaborative development mindsight, partnering with the Owner’s Engineer-of-Record (EOR), Construction Contractor and other stakeholders to identify, address and overcome any impediments to timely and successful project delivery within established budgets.
Responsibilities:
- Project management support consisting of reviews of project scoping, project scheduling, cost estimating reviews, recommending optimal procurement strategies, and risk assessment reviews.
- Project management consisting of project initiation and monitoring, controlling and reporting.
- Project management throughout the project phases (planning, design, bidding, construction, closeout, warranty or related services);
- As needed, assisting in the procurement of architecture, engineering, and construction services under the direction of the City Client’s Department of Procurement (Procurement), and in accordance with governing state law and City ordinances and policies;
- Assisting City Client in coordinating with outside agencies and construction inspection;
- As needed provide assistance in conducting value engineering analysis and constructability reviews
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field OR more than 10 years of professional experience in a similar role.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience managing the design or construction of parks, roads, stormwater drainage or utility systems.
- Other: Must currently reside in South Florida (preferably Miami-Dade County) and be willing to drive to Owner locations across the City (mileage will be reimbursed).
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Adept at MS Office applications
- Prior experience entering data or forms in E-Builder
- Intermediate proficiency in project scheduling tools and techniques, with the ability to review and comment on schedules as needed
- Understanding of design or construction processes, facility standards, and regulatory requirements
Preferred (But Not Required) Certifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification
- OSHA 10
Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Perform additional project controls related duties as required.
