Job Title: Mechanical Inspector
Job Location: CES Office: Long Island City, NY
Project Location: Flushing Creek, Queens
The Role
The Role
The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for providing inspection services for the construction of Combined Sewer Overflow Disinfection Facilities for Outfalls which discharge to Flushing Creek. The project involves the construction of a new disinfection facility, modifications to the Flushing Bay CSO facility, a combined disinfection and chlorination facility, new chemical piping within right-of-ways and installation of dosing equipment within the existing CSO system.
Responsibilities:
- Examining the contractor’s work to ensure the work is being performed in accordance with the contract and shop drawings.
- Prepare daily inspection reports that summarize contractor staffing, work activities, and production levels sufficient to allow for payment.
- Review and maintain T&M records as needed.
- Conduct continuous technical inspections to confirm that quality measures are implemented daily
- Conduct substantial and final inspections alongside the supervisor and designated personnel
- Verify contractor adherence to contract requirements, quality control standards, and safety protocols
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of Mechanical Inspection experience on NYCDEP projects involving Wastewater Treatment Plants, Pumping stations, Combined Sewer Overflow, and Disinfection facilities.
- OSHA Construction 30-hour (preferred)
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft Office
Soft Skills:
- Detailed oriented and reliable, while demonstrating a high-level of interpersonal, diplomacy, and organizational skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple team members.
