Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to support the successful delivery of ground-up retail strip center developments. Working alongside the Lead Superintendent, you will oversee daily field operations, coordinate subcontractors, maintain project schedules, enforce safety standards, and ensure quality workmanship from site preparation through project closeout.
This role is ideal for someone with 2–6 years of commercial construction experience looking to develop into a Lead Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent in managing all day-to-day construction activities.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and inspections.
- Monitor project progress to ensure schedule milestones are achieved.
- Conduct daily site walks to verify quality, productivity, and safety compliance.
- Enforce OSHA safety standards and company safety policies.
- Assist with weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals.
- Track material deliveries and ensure proper storage on site.
- Maintain daily reports, manpower logs, weather reports, and project documentation.
- Coordinate municipal inspections and ensure work complies with building codes.
- Identify and proactively resolve field issues before impacting schedule.
- Assist with punch list completion and project turnover.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
Qualifications
- 2–6 years of commercial construction experience.
- Previous experience on ground-up retail, shopping center, grocery-anchored, mixed-use, or commercial shell projects preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and scheduling.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
