Freshman Boys Basketball Coach- CD High School

Job Summary
CD High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic department as a Freshman Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position is ideal for someone passionate about youth sports and committed to fostering a positive, competitive environment for student-athletes. The coach will be responsible for developing the skills of freshman players, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily basketball practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Develop game strategies and prepare players for competition, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
• Organize and lead team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and game plans.
• Foster a positive team culture that encourages respect, discipline, and hard work among players.
• Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve.
• Coordinate with the athletic department and other coaches regarding scheduling, transportation, and equipment needs.
• Ensure compliance with school policies and regulations, as well as any applicable league rules.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding player progress and team activities.
• Promote the importance of academics and encourage student-athletes to balance their athletic and academic responsibilities.
• Assist in the recruitment and development of future players for the high school basketball program.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or youth level, is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and school staff.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• First Aid and CPR certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
• Must pass a background check and adhere to all school and district policies.
• Availability for after-school practices and evening games during the basketball season.
• A passion for coaching and a commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the court.
