As a Benefits Specialist with Special School District (SSD), you will help employees navigate and access the benefits that support them throughout their careers. In this role, you will oversee the administration of health, retirement, leave, and insurance programs, ensuring employees receive accurate information, timely support, and a positive benefits experience. You will work closely with Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, vendors, and employees to manage enrollments, maintain data accuracy, coordinate open enrollment and wellness initiatives, and support compliance with benefit plan requirements. Through strong customer service, attention to detail, and continuous process improvement, you will play an important role in helping employees understand, utilize, and value the benefits available to them.
The specialist works at SSD’s Central Office, 12110 Clayton Road, Town & Country, MO, 63131, Monday through Friday, typically from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
Salary
- $65,000
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- 3-5 years of experience administering benefit programs, including health, FSA, HSA, disability, life insurance, supplemental benefits, workers' compensation, and retirement programs preferred
- 3 years of experience working with HRIS preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Excel preferred
- Working knowledge of applicable benefit laws and other areas of compliance (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), COBRA, workers’ compensation) preferred
- Experience with streamlining administration of benefits programs preferred
