As the Insurance and Benefits Director at Special School District (SSD), you will lead the development, administration, and continuous improvement of the District’s employee benefits, workers’ compensation, and risk management programs. In this role, you will oversee relationships with benefit providers, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators, ensuring programs are cost-effective, compliant, and responsive to employee needs. You will collaborate with leaders across Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, Communications, and Safety to support strategic decision making, guide wellness and workers’ compensation initiatives, manage vendor performance, and supervise the Insurance and Benefits Department. Through your leadership, you will help ensure employees have access to high-quality benefits programs and services that support their well-being throughout their careers.
The director works at SSD’s Central Office, 12110 Clayton Road, Town & Country, MO, 63131, Monday through Friday, typically from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
Salary
- $120,000
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field required; master’s degree preferred
- 5 years minimum of progressive experience managing health & welfare employee benefits plans required
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in wellness program development required
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in property, casualty, and liability claims required
- Experience managing employee benefit self-service systems required
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
