The Director, Commercial & Medical IT will serve as the strategic technology leader supporting our Commercial and Medical Affairs organizations as we prepare for our first product launch. This individual will act as a trusted advisor and hands-on delivery partner, aligning technology strategy with business goals, ensuring launch readiness, and building scalable solutions to support future growth. This role will lead the planning, execution, and support of IT systems and strategies that enable the success of our Commercial and Medical Affairs teams.
This role will be responsible for shaping and delivering the IT roadmap aligned with our launch strategy, building and integrating key technology capabilities across Commercial and Medical functions, and serving as the bridge between business needs and technical execution.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in first-time product launches, with a track record of implementing and managing IT capabilities that enable commercial, medical, and patient engagement activities. This leader will be responsible for shaping technology strategy while also driving execution across critical business applications, data platforms, and digital capabilities.
Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership
- Serve as the primary IT partner and trusted advisor to Commercial and Medical leadership, ensuring technology strategy aligns with business objectives.
- Translate business needs into technology roadmaps, prioritizing initiatives for launch readiness and long-term scalability.
- Anticipate emerging needs across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Patient Services functions.
- Strong ability to influence without authority while balancing business demand with enterprise standards..
Launch Enablement
- Lead IT planning and execution for our first commercial launch, ensuring readiness of critical systems such as CRM, Data & Analytics, Content Management, Medical Information, Safety, and Digital Engagement tools.
- Establish integrated launch plans and risk mitigation strategies to ensure seamless deployment and adoption.
Delivery & Execution
- Partner with project managers and delivery teams to oversee implementation of Commercial and Medical IT solutions.
- Provide hands-on guidance in areas such as system design, vendor selection, validation, and integration.
Governance & Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with key technology vendors and system integrators.
- Establish project business cases and work with the business leaders to prioritize deliverables.
- Oversee budgets, contracts, and performance to ensure value realization and cost effectiveness.
Change Management & Adoption
- Partner with business leaders to drive system adoption and effective use of new technologies.
- Support training, communication, and user readiness activities for launch-critical applications.
Qualifications
- 10 years of lifecycle IT experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 15 years of lifecycle IT experience without a degree
- Direct experience supporting first commercial launches (required)
- Experience managing vendors and implementing cloud-based enterprise applications in a regulated environment
- Under 10% travel
Commercial IT Domain Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of:
- CRM platforms (e.g., Veeva CRM, Salesforce Health Cloud)
- Omnichannel marketing and digital engagement
- Sales force effectiveness and incentive compensation
- Customer master data and segmentation
- Experience supporting:
- Field sales, marketing, market access, pricing & contracting
Medical IT Domain Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of:
- Medical Affairs operations and workflows
- Systems supporting Medical Information, MSLs, Scientific Engagement
- Evidence generation, publications, and congress management
- Familiarity with tools such as:
- Veeva Medical, Vault MedComms, RIM, Clinical/Medical data platforms
Skills:

Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $176,659 to $229,427.We are committed to compensating employees equitably based on several factors including experience, education, licensure/certifications, skill level, location of the position, and availability of similar talent in a competitive market.
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary bonus, long term incentive, 401(K) plan with employer contribution, health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
