Art Director
Location: Central Office
Reports To: Director of Marketing and Communications
Summary of Role
The Art Director develops and maintains Celebration Church’s clear and compelling visual identity, delivering innovative, high-impact design and photography that advance the church’s mission. This role provides creative direction for weekend services, conferences, major events, and marketing campaigns, ensuring visuals that captivate and engage audiences locally, nationally, and globally.
Position Status & Schedule
- Exempt, Salary
- Full-time (40 hours)
- Sunday through Thursday; hours vary based on events (will include evenings/weekends as required)
- Christmas, Easter, Pursuit Weeks, and Dream Team Appreciation service dates and times are blackout days for time off. Other events will be required outside of your regular schedule; you will be informed in advance of these requirements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Art/Design
- Lead and innovate creative direction for branding, campaigns, and visual experiences across platforms (print, digital, stage/environmental design, video graphics, photography)
- Execute ideas that are bold, visually compelling, and aligned with the church’s vision
- Direct large-scale marketing campaigns with excellence and creativity
- Capture and edit high-quality photography that elevates campaigns and event storytelling
- Establish department standards for production, innovation, and creative quality
Leadership
- Manage and inspire a team of graphic designers, photographers, and creatives
- Schedule, assign, and oversee projects to ensure timely and excellent execution
- Conduct performance evaluations that encourage growth and accountability
- Mentor and equip staff and Dream Team members to continually expand their skills
- Lead the team in alignment with church Core Values and organizational policies
Dream Team Development
- Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to serve in Art & Design with passion and excellence
- Build a thriving, people-first volunteer culture for creativity and ownership
- Provide Dream Team with tools and training to contribute effectively to conferences and events
- Foster growth of the Dream Team through creative recruiting and team care
Administrative
- Maintain SOPs and workflows to ensure efficiency and high standards of creative output
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications Project Manager and Marketing and Communications Director to create timelines and deliverables
- Ensure technologies, strategies, and equipment are up-to-date and accessible
- Manage budgets and resources effectively for large productions and campaigns
- Approve timecards and time-off requests promptly
Contribute to the overall successful of Celebration Church by performing other duties as assigned.

Competencies
- Passion for creativity, excellence, and using design as a tool for ministry impact
- Strategic thinker who can translate vision into impactful visual storytelling
- Proven leadership in guiding creative teams under high-pressure, deadline-driven environments
- Strong photography and editing skills; video production knowledge is a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Lightroom)
- Willingly flexes schedule to support projects and events as needed
Education & Experience
- 5 years of professional experience in art direction, graphic design, and photography (experience with large-scale events preferred)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating campaign design, branding, and innovative creative solutions
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position ~75% of the time.
- Occasionally move about inside church facilities and handle equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Regularly work in an open office environment and occasionally outdoors in varied climates.
