Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive commissioning plans and schedules integrated with overall project timelines.
- Plan and oversee daily commissioning activities, including inspections, system startup, and functional testing.
- Support development and execution of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures in accordance with NFPA70E.
- Utilize commissioning management platforms (e.g., BIM360, ACC Build, CxAlloy) to track issues, documentation, and checklists.
- Drive engagement of vendors, subcontractors, and commissioning agents through commissioning software and coordinated planning.
- Collaborate with client-side commissioning agents to incorporate project-specific requirements into Cx workflows.
- Manage commissioning personnel, including Project Engineers and M&E Superintendents.
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed and documented in alignment with project requirements and standards.
- Coordinate factory witness tests, technician scheduling, and other vendor commissioning efforts.
- Prepare commissioning-related budgets and plans, including labor resources, load bank strategies, and subcontractor scope review.
- Define and manage scope responsibility matrices for commissioning and ensure clarity in subcontractor documentation.
- Participate in design review meetings and contribute subject matter expertise during technical discussions.
- Review subcontractor engineering calculations, submittals, and related technical materials.
- Collaborate with onsite QA/QC and M&E teams to ensure alignment of quality and technical commissioning objectives.
- Contribute to internal Cx best practices and support commissioning efforts across additional projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall team and project success.
- Technical engineering degree or equivalent hands-on technical experience (minimum 5 years).
- Experience serving as a startup or commissioning manager for mechanical, electrical, and/or controls systems.
- Track record of success in similar commissioning roles on multiple complex construction projects.
- Direct experience working for a general contractor on hyperscale data center builds.
- Familiarity with NFPA70E electrical safety protocols and LOTO program implementation.
- Strong understanding of technical building systems including HVAC, power distribution, and BMS.
- Proficiency in using commissioning platforms such as CxAlloy, BIM360, and ACC Build.
- Effective leadership and communication skills to manage internal teams and interface with clients and subcontractors.
- Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to work in active construction environments, stand or walk for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
