GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Vice President, Finance & Accounting is responsible for the company’s GAAP accounting, financial reporting, audit and tax support, and financial planning and analysis. This role serves as the CFO’s primary partner for financial integrity, insight, and external reporting in a private-equity-backed environment.
This position does not oversee day-to-day transactional operations such as Billing, AP Agents, AR, Collections, or AP trade. Those functions are owned by the Director, Financial Operations. Instead, this role focuses on accurate reporting, strong controls, forward-looking analysis, and executive-level decision support, ensuring leadership has clear and reliable financial information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
GAAP Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and technical documentation
- Serve as the primary accounting authority under the CFO
- Support lender reporting, covenant compliance, and external financial request
Cash Application & Reconciliations
- Oversee cash application and reconciliation processes to ensure accurate and timely posting
- Ensure cash balances are properly recorded and reconciled
- Partner with Financial Operations to resolve timing or data discrepancies impacting reporting
Audit, Tax & Compliance Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Lead audit preparation, coordination, and issue resolution
- Support 3rd party tax filings, compliance requirements, and external advisors
- Ensure internal controls are designed, documented, and operating effectively
- Identify and mitigate accounting and reporting risk
FP&A, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process and recurring forecast cycles
- Develop and maintain financial models tied to operational and strategic drivers
- Analyze variances, trends, and performance drivers and translate them into clear insights
- Support scenario analysis, cash planning, and strategic decision-making
Reporting & Executive Decision Support
- Lead the reporting function for Finance and Operations
- Maintain dashboards, KPIs, and financial narratives for leadership, lenders, and ownership
- Ensure consistency of reporting and alignment between financial results and operational performance
- Support board materials, investor updates, and strategic presentation
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop finance and accounting team members directly and indirectly
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards
- Build scalable reporting and accounting processes that support growth
Ad Hoc
- Lead special projects and finance transformation initiatives
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This role has direct supervisory responsibility for finance and accounting team members within its scope, including FP&A and accounting resources.
DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This role requires strong judgment related to financial reporting, compliance, forecasting assumptions, and risk management. The Vice President, Finance & Accounting is expected to proactively identify issues, recommend solutions, and support executive decision-making.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10–15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience
- Deep expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Experience partnering with auditors, lenders, and executive leadership
- Experience in private-equity-backed or leveraged environments preferred
Certificates and Licenses:
- CPA strongly preferred
