Summary:
Casper College is seeking applicants for the position of Adjunct Faculty - Education Instructor. This faculty member will teach courses according to the need in the Education Department for students majoring in elementary education and secondary education. For this position, the instructor will teach one or both sections of ITEC 2360 Teaching With Technology. Classes are taught in both face-to-face classes on campus or in an online environment.
Responsibilities:
The position reports to the Dean of Social and Behavioral Science. The basic responsibility of an adjunct faculty member is to review and distribute course syllabi to each class, follow standard course design designated by the dean or school, arrange for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment necessary to meet course objectives, and basic reporting duties including grade reports, etc. Adjunct faculty members are evaluated by students, the dean and department, and the college administration.
Essential Duties:
- Teach course/courses in assigned Education instruction area
- Prepare syllabi and schedules for each course
- Develop lesson plans
- Procure appropriate materials needed for course instruction
- Reporting duties include student grade data
- Utilize active learning strategies to assist the learner in meeting the course objectives
- Participate in all required meetings and events as requested by the department or administration
- Be available to students for questions and assistance with coursework
Work Environment:
Typical work environment is a classroom, computer lab and/or office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Work is usually performed during the normal workday, however, occasional early morning, late evening and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
Employee must be able to stand for long periods of time, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Curriculum & Instruction, Elementary Education, Education Psychology, Special Education, or a related education discipline OR a Master's Degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in Curriculum & Instruction, Elementary Education, Education Psychology, Special Education, or a related education discipline
- A commitment to teaching excellence and a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness
- A commitment to student learning, success and completion
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience teaching at the college level, both classroom and online delivery
- Qualified through the Higher Learning Commission accreditation to provide instruction in more than one academic discipline
