This leadership position is responsible for the overall operation of Dining Services, including staff supervision, food production, meal service, sanitation, regulatory compliance, purchasing, inventory, budgeting, and resident satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be an organized and hands-on leader committed to providing residents with high-quality meals and an exceptional dining experience.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, interview, hire, orient, train, schedule, and supervise Dining Services employees
- Maintain appropriate staffing and schedule coverage for the department
- Monitor employee attendance, approve timecards, and complete performance evaluations
- Oversee food production, kitchen operations, tray lines, dining rooms, dishwashing areas, and meal-service areas
- Ensure meals are prepared and served safely, accurately, and according to residents’ dietary needs
- Coordinate therapeutic diets and resident food-service needs with the Dietitian and clinical team
- Make menu substitutions as needed and complete required documentation
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in accordance with state, federal, and facility standards
- Track meal counts, departmental requests, supplies, expenditures, invoices, and inventory
- Monitor food and supply budgets while reducing waste, spoilage, and unnecessary expenses
- Conduct routine inspections and develop corrective action plans when needed
- Develop and implement Dining Services policies and procedures
- Participate in staff meetings, Quality Assurance meetings, and the weekend management rotation
- Collaborate with the Administrator and leadership team to support campus operations and resident satisfaction
- Certified Dietary Manager preferred
- Certified Chef or a four-year degree in Food and Nutrition may also be considered
- Current ServSafe Certification required
- Minimum of three years of food-service supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet required deadlines
- Working knowledge of commercial food-service equipment
- Ability to work varied hours as needed to monitor all phases of the department
- Long-term care or senior-living experience is preferred
