Senior Manager Accounting Operations

Carolina PRG has partnered with a Charlotte based publicly traded company that is looking to add a Senior Manager of Accounting Operations to their team. This is a high-impact role, with a strong focus on stabilizing and enhancing the accounting function—particularly around internal controls, documentation, and process design. This position is led by a FANTASTIC CAO that is well known for her AMAZING mentorship, collaboration, and culture development.

Senior Manager, Accounting Operations

We are partnering with a large, publicly traded organization seeking a hands-on accounting leader to help strengthen and stabilize core accounting operations within one of its key business segments. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys improving processes, developing teams, and driving operational excellence.

This role will oversee key accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial close activities, and internal controls. The company is looking for a strong leader who can help modernize processes, improve accuracy and accountability, and partner cross-functionally across finance, operations, audit, and shared services teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting support

• Oversee accounting operations related to AP, AR, and general accounting activities

• Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls in a SOX-compliant environment

• Partner with internal and external auditors and support audit requests, walkthroughs, and remediation activities

• Identify operational inefficiencies and implement scalable, sustainable accounting processes

• Help support the transition and standardization of accounting activities into a shared services environment

• Collaborate closely with finance leadership, treasury, operations, procurement, and shared services teams

• Mentor and develop accounting staff while fostering accountability and continuous improvement

• Act as a hands-on leader willing to dive into operational and technical accounting challenges when needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred

• 8 years of progressive accounting experience within public company or complex corporate environments

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial close, internal controls, and SOX compliance

• Experience overseeing or supporting AP, AR, and general ledger functions

• Prior experience improving processes, remediating control issues, or supporting accounting transformations highly preferred

• Background in shared services environments, process migrations, or operational accounting improvements is a plus

• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple functions and leadership levels
