Carolina PRG is partnering with a confidential global manufacturing organization to identify an experienced Director of Accounts Payable. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives on building efficient processes, leading large teams, and driving strategic initiatives across a complex, multi-entity environment.
This role will oversee the company's accounts payable function while partnering closely with finance, operations, procurement, and executive leadership to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and support ongoing business growth. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in ERP implementations, process improvement, and transformational leadership within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Accounts Payable function across a multi-entity, global organization
- Oversee the full procure-to-pay process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant invoice processing and vendor payments
- Drive process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance the overall AP function
- Lead or play a key role in ERP implementation, optimization, and system enhancement projects
- Partner with Procurement, Finance, Operations, and IT to streamline workflows and improve cross-functional processes
- Establish and monitor KPIs, reporting metrics, and service level expectations for the AP department
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and audit requests
- Develop AP policies and procedures while identifying opportunities for automation and continuous improvement
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve complex payment or process-related issues
- Mentor, develop, and lead a high-performing Accounts Payable team while fostering accountability and professional growth
- Support organizational growth initiatives, acquisitions, and finance transformation projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Progressive leadership experience within Accounts Payable, including experience at the Manager or Director level
- Experience leading ERP implementations, upgrades, or large-scale system conversions
- Demonstrated success driving process improvement, automation, and operational transformation initiatives
- Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience leading and developing high-performing accounting teams
- Strong understanding of procure-to-pay processes, internal controls, and best practices
- Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization and influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced ERP system proficiency and strong Excel skills
