Cost Accounting Specialist
Responsibilities
• Process vendor invoices, code, and enter accounts payable in the accounting system.
• Handle accounts payable check runs and vendor-related inquiries.
• File credit applications for new vendors and manage W9 requests.
• Prepare allocations and journal entries.
• Assist in preparing vendor payables reports.
• Perform data entry with accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
• Maintain organized and accessible company files.
• Collaborate effectively and promote a team-oriented environment.
• Processing of payroll: entering timekeeping, record and maintain time off (Vacation, Sick, Leave of Absence, Layoffs).
• Processing of payroll taxes: semi-monthly payroll tax reporting and filing, monthly workers’ compensation reporting, quarterly and annual State and Federal payroll reporting, and annual workers’ compensation audit.
• Demonstrate consistent punctuality, reliable attendance, and a conscientious attitude.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, including the use of accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and mathematical skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent accuracy, quality control, and organizational abilities.
• Strong follow-up and multitasking skills under tight deadlines.
• High level of discretion and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, and Excel (including creating and maintaining workbooks).
• Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor.
• Dependable, motivated, and adaptable to changing priorities.
