Position Description
Love Chew Brands is seeking a Controller to join a small, fast-growing team. This position will manage all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, compliance, and internal controls. The Controller will play a vital role in shaping the financial future of the company and supporting strategic decision-making with data-driven insights. This role will also assist with Human Resource responsibilities, including implementing and managing company health insurance benefits, maintaining employee records, and supporting policies and compliance. This role is deadline-driven and detail-oriented and requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic environment. The Controller will report directly to the CEO and collaborate closely with the Sr. Director of Operations Supply Chain. This position is based in Las Vegas, NV with 2-3 office days a week, and may travel up to 10%. Must be based in the U.S.
Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate has experience in financial management, preferably within the CPG or food manufacturing industry. This person is comfortable with ERP/accounting systems, understands the nuances of inventory and cost accounting, and can partner cross-functionally to deliver accurate and timely financial information. Experience or interest in supporting HR administration is a plus. The Controller should be a proactive, highly organized, and strategic thinker who is capable of balancing day-to-day accounting with big-picture financial planning.
Responsibilities
- Manage all financial reporting including monthly, quarterly, and annual close
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with leadership
- Own cash flow management and liquidity planning
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes
- Oversee and reconcile inventory valuation and COGS accounting
- Prepare and analyze P&L statements, balance sheets, and financial KPIs
- Ensure tax compliance and prepare documentation for external accountants
- Responsible for compliance with tax, payroll and licensing requirements for all state and local government agencies
- Provide financial modeling and scenario planning for strategic initiatives
- Support cost savings and margin improvement initiatives
- Serve as point of contact for external auditors, accountants, and banking partners
- Assist in Human Resource duties including benefits administration, onboarding support, policy implementation, and compliance
- Implement and manage company health insurance
- Coordinate and maintain business insurance policies including liability, property, recall and product coverage
- Administer workers’ compensation claims and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements
- Manage employee health insurance programs including plan selection, enrollment, and support
- Oversee 401(k) plan administration and vendor communication
- Ensure corporate compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
- Create customer pricing strategies and tools for the sales team in coordination with leadership and operations
- Accept responsibility for organizational goals by taking ownership of new and different duties and identifying opportunities for financial growth and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience; CPG experience a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial controls
- Experience with ERP systems required; QuickBooks preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Comfortable working remotely and collaborating across teams
- Experience or familiarity with HR systems, benefits platforms, or employee policy management preferred
