Family Law Attorney / Partner

Location: Livingston, New Jersey

Salary: $180,000 - $250,000 Bonus and Benefits (Base salary may be substantially higher based on experience and client following/originations from prior years).

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Family Law Attorney to join a growing, well-established law firm based in Livingston, New Jersey.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished attorney with family law experience across both New York and New Jersey to join a successful practice and play an integral role in its continued growth.

The ideal candidate will have extensive courtroom experience, exceptional legal research and drafting skills, and the confidence to independently manage complex family law matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a varied caseload of family law matters across New York and New Jersey.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, motions, and settlement negotiations.
• Handle complex matrimonial and family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, and related disputes.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, agreements, legal memoranda, and other court documents.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and provide strategic, commercially sound advice to clients.
• Develop effective case strategies and negotiate favourable outcomes.
• Maintain strong client relationships, providing clear communication and exceptional service throughout the legal process.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the firm's family law practice.

Requirements

• Experience practising family law in New York and New Jersey.
• Admission to the New York Bar essential plus New Jersey desirable or able to waive.
• Demonstrable courtroom and litigation experience in both jurisdictions.
• Excellent legal writing, drafting, analytical, and research skills.
• Proven ability to independently manage family law cases from initial consultation through resolution.
• Strong negotiation, advocacy, and client relationship management skills.
• Excellent professional reputation and established connections within the family law community.
• An existing portable book of business is highly desirable and will be given strong preference.
• Ability to work full-time, five days per week, from the firm's Livingston, NJ office, with flexibility to attend the New York office and courts as required.

Compensation will be determined by several factors, including:

• Years of relevant family law experience in New York and New Jersey.
• Depth of hands-on litigation and courtroom experience.
• Reputation and professional relationships within the family law community.
• Ability to independently handle complex family law matters.
• The size and value of any existing portable book of business.

Salary: $180,000 - $250,000 Bonus and Benefits (Base salary may be substantially higher based on experience and client following/originations from prior years).
