Audio Visual Lead
POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead AV Technician plays a vital role in delivering seamless, high-quality audiovisual experiences for live, virtual, and hybrid events. This position is responsible for overseeing setup, operation, and troubleshooting of AV systems, while leading production crews and supporting internal teams. The Lead AV Tech combines technical expertise with leadership to ensure events are executed on time, within budget, and with excellence.

OBJECTIVES
- Lead AV setup, operation, and strike for live, virtual, and hybrid events.
- Oversee and support AV staff.
- Operate and troubleshoot audio, video, lighting, LED, and streaming systems.
- Maintain and prepare all AV equipment to ensure readiness and reliability.
- Collaborate with executives, marketing, and creative teams to meet event goals.
- Stay current with AV technologies and recommend upgrades or processes. improvements.
- Create and maintain event run-of-show documents and technical checklists.
COMPETENCIES
- Deep knowledge of AV production: cameras, lenses, switchers, LED processing, lighting, audio engineering, streaming platforms.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage conflict, and make decisive calls under pressure.
- Skilled in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Ability to clearly articulate technical needs to executives, marketing teams, and clients.
- Calm under pressure with strong troubleshooting instincts.
- Interest in exploring and implementing emerging technologies for live and virtual production.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 3–5 years of professional experience in AV production or event technology.
- Hands-on experience with AV hardware/software: TriCaster, ATEM, vMix, OBS, Restream, LiveU, Dante, LED processing systems.
- Previous experience leading AV crews or serving as the primary technician for events.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in live environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of equipment.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and travel for events as required.
