Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for pediatric clients, evaluating motor skills, sensory processing, cognition, and daily living activities.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that align with clinical goals and client needs, incorporating therapeutic activities to improve fine motor skills, sensory integration, self-care abilities, and overall functional independence.
• Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting to foster independence at home and school.
• Implement evidence-based occupational therapy programs across various settings such as outpatient clinics, schools, inpatient units, or home health environments.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physical therapists, educators, and medical professionals—to ensure comprehensive care and seamless communication.
• Manage medical documentation accurately within electronic health records (EHR), including progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and clinical reports.
• Participate in discharge planning and case management to support smooth transitions between care settings or educational placements for pediatric clients.
• Support families by providing education on therapy techniques and strategies to promote ongoing development outside of sessions.

Skills

• Proven experience working with children with disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders.
• Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology and anatomy relevant to occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
• Skilled in developing treatment plans tailored to individual client needs while adhering to evidence-based practices.
• Excellent client communication skills to effectively engage children and their families in therapy processes.
• Familiarity with implementing occupational therapy assessments focused on sensory processing, motor skills, cognition, and daily functioning.
• Experience working within school systems or early intervention programs supporting students with special education needs.
• Proficiency in medical documentation and clinical interprofessional collaboration across healthcare disciplines.
• Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pediatrics and rehabilitation settings such as inpatient units or skilled nursing facilities.
• Ability to manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently while maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
• Experience working in outpatient clinics or home health environments delivering physical rehabilitation occupational therapy services.
• Competence in discharge planning and case management for post-acute care or outpatient pediatric populations.
