Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to support patient independence
  • Implement treatment plans developed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring therapy goals are met effectively
  • Support pediatric occupational therapy programs, including interventions for children with autism and childhood developmental delays
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals—including physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists—to coordinate comprehensive care
  • Conduct patient assessments and document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards
  • Facilitate patient transport within facilities or to outpatient appointments while maintaining safety protocols through manual handling techniques
  • Engage with patients during therapy sessions to promote active participation and monitor progress in areas such as physiology, anatomy, and neurodevelopmental functions
  • Communicate clearly with clients and caregivers to explain treatment procedures, progress updates, and care instructions in a compassionate manner
  • Support care documentation processes using medical terminology and electronic health records systems to ensure precise record-keeping
  • Assist with home health visits or outpatient therapy sessions focused on occupational health or rehabilitation needs

Experience

  • Proven experience working in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and implement treatment plans effectively across diverse patient populations
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder or developmental delays is advantageous
  • Familiarity with acute care settings and medical imaging procedures enhances your ability to support complex cases
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and occupational therapy principles is essential for success in this role
  • Experience working with geriatric populations or clients requiring specialized occupational therapy services adds value to your candidacy
  • Strong communication skills for caregiver engagement and client interaction are critical for fostering positive therapeutic relationships
