About the role:
We are seeking a Patient Care Representative I to serve as the initial point of contact for Capital Health Plan (CHP) members seeking medical care. This role plays a key part in supporting patient access, front office operations, and clinical workflow by assisting with appointment scheduling, registration, documentation, and communication.
The Patient Care Representative I answers incoming calls, enters information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR), verifies membership and coverage, and supports patient check-in and checkout processes. This position also assists with collecting patient cost shares, coordinating follow up care, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate to support quality standards and patient safety.
We're looking for someone who has:
- High school diploma or GED
- One to three months of related experience or training preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, staff, and providers in person, over the phone, or through other forms of electronic communication
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established policies and procedures
- Ability to learn and use electronic scheduling and medical record systems
- Skills in managing multiple tasks while interacting with patients and delivering courteous, professional patient service
Highly preferred candidates also have:
- Prior experience in a healthcare, medical office, or customer service environment
- Experience with appointment scheduling and managing multiple provider schedules
- Familiarity with EHRs or medical scheduling software
- Experience collecting payments and reconciling daily transactions
- Ability to support quality and patient safety initiatives in a clinical setting
