GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Cooking for Everyday Life Instructor will provide hands-on training and instruction to intellectually disabled adults enrolled in the Project Forward vocational program. This position will focus on basic food preparation suited for everyday meals with a focus on living independently and using creative ingredients. This is a part-time position, including 3 hours /week (2 hours of instruction/1-hour of prep time) for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Underscore the importance of expanding one's palette (trying new foods!) and overall kitchen safety.
- Teach students about food trends, easy ways to modify store-bought ingredients, meal planning, budgeting, and best practices in the kitchen, including freezer life, sanitation, and safe equipment operation.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Strong experience with cooking and kitchen tools.
- Strong experience with kitchen safety.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player with students and Project Forward staff.
- Ability to perform physical/hands on work.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year of experience working with or teaching individuals with special needs.
- Valid SERV Safe certification.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $35.31/hour; 3 hours per week (including 2 hours of instruction and 1 hour of preparation time) during Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit Position
