GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our training programs and course opportunities are contract-based and/or subject to enrollment.

This Instructor role will design, lead, and deliver a customized Aviation Maintenance Technology Program through the Center for Community and Professional Education (CCAPE) at Cape Cod Community College, in partnership with an employer client, to prepare participants for their Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification.

Responsibilities of this role include guiding students through a self-paced e-learning module to prepare them for the three required FAA knowledge exams (General, Airframe, and Powerplant), and developing customized curriculum and providing laboratory-based instruction for a 48-hour Airframe & Powerplant Review and Exam Prep Practical. The practical training will take place over a four-week period, totaling 12 hours per week (two evening sessions and one Saturday session). The program is expected to launch in January/February 2026, beginning with the two-month self-paced e-learning module, followed by the hands-on practical instruction.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Classroom and practical instruction of FAA Part 147 aviation courses.
  • Participate in the Department's assessment, development, and implementation of lecture and laboratory curriculum, courses, and programs.
  • Maintain own professional certifications and remain current in aviation maintenance practices and standards.
  • Maintain and submit attendance, grades, student evaluation, and all other required documentation and reports per established procedures.
  • Complete performance-based teacher education modules as assigned.
  • Ensure that all programmatic standards are met.

Job Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certification.
  • Three years of relevant work experience in an aviation maintenance capacity.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills in the classroom including integration of computer-based aviation software program(s).
  • Commitment to the community college philosophy.
  • Demonstrated evidence of keeping current in the fields of aviation and teaching.
  • Ability to relate pedagogically to the needs and interests of students.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
  • Potential to make significant contributions to curriculum and project development.
  • Ability to meet the challenges of a broad curriculum and a student body with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of pedagogical practice and theory.
  • Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education.
  • Ability to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or higher in aviation or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • US Military Base Access / security clearance.
  • Skilled user of PowerPoint, MSWord, and Excel.
  • Ability to utilize media equipment.
  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to maintain control in a classroom environment and diffuse difficult situations when necessary.
  • Strong verbal, written, and teaching skills.
  • Experience with the integration of aviation technology and alternative delivery systems of instruction in the teaching-learning process.
  • Experience, an appreciation for, and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.

Additional Information:


COMPENSATION
: Part-time, up to 18 hours per week, project-based/contract position. Anticipated rate of pay of $75/hour for instruction, dependent upon qualifications including teaching and field experience. An additional (one-time) $1,200 stipend is available for curriculum development and student support. Non-benefited, non-unit position.
