Server Assistant - Canopy

The Server Assistant plays a major role in the hotel's Food & Beverage experience. The Spirit to Serve is a key element in a positive customer experience. A server assistant must be friendly, courteous, professional, and demonstrate strong communication skills. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, think/act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure.

Schedule: We are currently seeking part-time availability to include both weekdays and weekends.

Pay: $16.37/hour generous tips

Essential Functions

• Maintains flow of food and product from the kitchen to table service
• Understands Room Service, Club Lounge, Banquet and Restaurant's food and beverage menu
• Organizes, prioritizes, and maintains order from servers to kitchen
• Presents food at tables in a knowledgeable and friendly manner
• Proactive in table maintenance
• Restocks needs of the kitchen expediter pass including, but not limited to ketchup speed pours, to-go equipment, other condiments as needed.
• Performs bussing responsibilities such as clearing used tableware from tables and bar
• Performs clean-ups of spills or other customer accidents as needed
• Cleans cups and dishes in back of house; adheres to dish-washing procedures
• Ensures servers are equipped with clean glasses in front of house at all times
• Assists servers in maintaining inventory of service materials including, but not limited to glassware, silverware, plate ware, and perishables
• Maintains knowledge of and adheres to Food Handlers guidelines.
• Interacts with all guests in a friendly/fast manner
• Maintains specific side-work and ensures the cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
• Quickly clears and resets
• Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multi-lingual environment
• A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates
• Scheduled hours may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This job operates behind the bar and may be working in close proximity to co-workers
• The noise level in the work environment can be loud
• Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping and burns
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit or stand in designated work area throughout the day based on business needs
• Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the designated work area
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach tables and kitchen in a timely manner
• Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. frequently throughout shift, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Requires grasping, writing, sitting or standing, moving about freely, using computer, repetitive motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and communicating effectively
• Must be willing and able to wash hands frequently throughout the shift
