Banquet Server - Canopy

This Banquet Server plays a major role in the Hotel's Food & Beverage experience. The Spirit to Serve is a key element in a positive experience. Consistency is critical, which is achieved by going above and beyond for the guests. A Banquet Server must be friendly, courteous, professional, and possess good communication skills. Must be able to multi-task and be able to think and act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure.

Schedule: We are currently seeking part-time availability as needed for banquets & events.

Essential Functions

• Sets up for events, carries trays, serves guests, and cleans up at the event's conclusion.
• Set up includes: putting out tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement, and putting up a buffet.
• Clean up includes: breaking down tables and taking tablecloths and linens to laundry.
• Inspects linen, silver, china, and other items prior to using them.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of menu; market specials and suggest alternatives to guests.
• Takes and fills customer orders.
• Checks food prior to serving; ensures presentation and temperature is in accordance with company standards.
• Coordinates service with other servers.
• Serves food and beverages to guests, refills beverages as needed.
• Responds to customer requests and complaints in a timely and courteous manner.
• Uses a computer to ring orders on a check.
• Accepts different types of payment and makes accurate change.
• Checks for identification of guests to ensure guests are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages.
• Refuses to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age.
• Observes behavior, counts number of alcoholic drinks served, and ask a manager to intervene, as necessary.
• Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to pass required Alcohol service training.
• A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates.
• Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel.
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This job operates behind the bar and other close quarters in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping and burns.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit or stand in designated work area throughout the day based on business needs.
• Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the designated work area.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach tables and kitchen in a timely manner.
• Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. frequently throughout shift, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Requires grasping, writing, sitting or standing, moving about freely, using computer, repetitive motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and communicating effectively.
• Must be willing and able to wash hands frequently throughout the shift
  
  

Pay: $16.37/hr
