Job Title: HVAC Service Manager
Reports To: Operations Manager / Owner
Location: Kern County, Ca
Job Type: Full-Time| Monday–Friday with rotating availability as needed
Salary Range: $75,000-110,000 annually (Depending on Experience)
Position Summary: The HVAC Service Manager is responsible for leading the residential HVAC service team to drive performance, growth, and operational excellence. This position requires a dynamic leader who thrives on achieving goals through hands-on management, coaching, and proactive planning. The Service Manager will oversee team performance, daily operations, revenue generation, employee development, and fleet condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage a team of 8–12 HVAC service technicians, ensuring productivity, quality, and morale
- Conduct daily huddles with the HVAC service team to review goals, performance, and daily schedule
- Lead weekly team training sessions on technical, sales, and service topics
- Hold bi-weekly 1-on-1 training/coaching sessions with each technician
- Promote a culture of learning, safety, and accountability
- Performance & Revenue Management
- Monitor and track daily revenue, adjusting tactics to meet targets
- Maintain and track KPI performance daily, identifying gaps and areas for improvement
- Set and communicate monthly projections including team goals and stretch goals
- Monitor dispatch board to optimize technician routes and increase profitability
- Support technicians with real-time coaching and job support when needed
- Sales & Forecasting
- Set daily, weekly, and monthly sales projections in collaboration with management
- Partner with the CSR/Dispatch teams to ensure alignment with sales objectives
- Analyze service tickets for missed opportunities and upsells
- Fleet & Vehicle Oversight
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure cleanliness, organization, and mechanical safety
- Address and report any vehicle maintenance issues to fleet manager or appropriate personnel
- Enforce proper use and care of company vehicles
- Recruitment & Staffing
- Assist with recruiting efforts for new HVAC service technicians
- Participate in interviews, evaluations, and onboarding process
- Administrative & Communication Duties
- Report key metrics to upper management on a weekly and monthly basis
- Ensure documentation and procedures are consistently followed
- Maintain communication between field techs, dispatch, and customer service
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Daily revenue and service ticket averages
- Technician conversion and upsell rates
- Callback rates and quality scores
- On-time job completion and efficiency
- Monthly team goal attainment
- Vehicle condition and compliance
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of HVAC experience, including leadership/supervisory roles
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, service operations, and troubleshooting
- Proven experience in coaching, training, and team development
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Working knowledge of dispatch and service management software (e.g., Service Titan)
Driver’s License & Driving Requirements:
- A valid and current California driver’s license is required for this position.
- Employees must maintain a clean driving record that meets the standards outlined in the company’s Fleet Usage Policy.
- Driving records are reviewed upon hire and no less than every six months thereafter.
- Any employee with a suspended or revoked license must immediately notify management and will be restricted from operating a company vehicle.
- Continued eligibility to drive a company vehicle is subject to ongoing compliance with vehicle safety and insurance standards.
- Please note: Some promotional opportunities within the company may require operation of a company vehicle. A driving record that does not meet company standards may limit your ability to be considered for promotion.
