Title: Lower School Assistant Principal

Reports to: Lower School Principal

Work Year: 12 months


Position Focus

The Lower School Assistant Principal plays a vital role in supporting the leadership of the Lower School Division. This position works closely with the Lower School Principal to ensure the effective management of faculty and staff, the implementation and supervision of curriculum and instructional practices, and the smooth operation of daily school activities. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Assistant Principal undertakes other duties as assigned by the Principal, contributing to the overall success and well-being of the school.

Position Parameters

  • Provides spiritual and professional guidance to faculty, staff, and school parents

  • Role-models Christian behavior and personal growth

  • Keeps abreast of current educational practices and attends professional conferences and workshops

  • Enforces all School Board policies and additional regulations or procedures outlined in the Parent/Student Handbook and other governing documents

  • Assist with professional development school-wide as a member of the Academic Team

  • Assist the Lower School Principal with formal and informal teacher observations

  • Monitor students on Academic Probation

  • Monitor student academic achievement and educational growth

  • Conference with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational issues in the school

  • Create and monitor Cambridge Accommodation Plans

  • Monitor all contractual requirements, spiritual and professional, of faculty and staff members

  • Respond to guidance needs of faculty, staff, parents, and students

  • Communicate and monitor the school's educational goals and mission to faculty, staff, and parents

  • Assist in delegating responsibilities and duties to Team Leaders, faculty, and staff members

  • Manage and enforce timely and accurate teacher FACTS homework, lesson plans, curriculum tracking, and grade postings

  • Maintain the Lower School Office in the absence of the Lower School Principal

  • Maintain a highly qualified faculty and staff through recruitment, training, and performance evaluation

  • Assist with the development of the master schedule

  • Maintain good communication and public relations with parents to ensure a strong home and school partnership

  • Maintain communication with other professionals to circulate professional research, ideas, and information

  • Collaborate with Lower School administration on student admissions

  • Assist the Lower School Principal to oversee all physical aspects of the campus including requests for classrooms and offices and ordering furniture or resources

  • Assist in communicating with the Operations Director to ensure summer maintenance requests are scheduled and timelines are established prior to the end of school

  • Assist with any other duties assigned by the Lower School Principal


Discipline

  • Enforce disciplinary codes and procedures with consistency

  • Conference with students referred to the office

  • Conference with parents regarding student disciplinary issues

  • Conference with teachers regarding disciplinary issues

  • Maintain records of disciplinary actions and follow through on assigned consequences

  • Communicate with stakeholders in an encouraging and supportive manner

  • Coordinate and manage lunch detention and suspension, including communication between parents, students, and teachers


Curricular and Testing Coordinator

  • Assist with the acquisition and distribution of curricular resources for the Lower School

  • Assist the Lower School Principal through the curricular adaptation process

  • Serve as the point of contact between CCS publishers and technology

  • Oversee maintenance of updated curriculum guides for every subject area

  • Keep informed of state standards and consider them during curriculum review

  • Collaborate with the Instructional Coach to promote effective teaching practices across grade levels

  • Support planning and delivery of professional development sessions for faculty

  • Supervise curriculum development, implementation, and daily instruction relative to established standards

  • Assist in analyzing student achievement data to guide instructional decisions


 

 

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of a master’s degree in education or related areas of supervision or leadership
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience, and leadership experience is preferred  (Department Head, Team Lead, or other administrative position)
  •  Demonstrated ability to supervise, communicate and delegate to adults and children
  • A Christian who is a member in good standing and actively serving in a Bible-believing church
