Position- Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Shift Times: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Location- Mattoon, IL
Pay- Hourly Rate: $37.23 - $57.71 (Based on Experience)
Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rates, and overall progress during labor using advanced monitoring systems.
- Administer medications and interventions as prescribed, including epidurals, oxytocin, and pain management techniques.
- Assist with labor support activities such as cervical examinations, amniotomy procedures, and assisting with delivery.
- Ensure aseptic techniques are maintained during all procedures to prevent infection.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families throughout the labor process.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and neonatal teams to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Prepare the delivery room for each patient by ensuring all necessary equipment is sterile and operational.
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage or fetal distress.
- Support postpartum recovery by monitoring vital signs, managing pain control, and providing breastfeeding assistance.
Skills
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with specialized training or certification in obstetrics or maternal-newborn nursing.
- Proven experience in labor and delivery settings within hospital environments.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Strong knowledge of obstetric protocols, fetal monitoring techniques, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Ability to perform advanced clinical skills including suturing, IV infusion management, and sterile technique adherence.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- ADN [Required]
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support W/I 90 Days [HIGHLY PREFERRED]
- BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire. [HIGHLY PREFERRED]
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification.
