California's Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) Program was initiated in 2013 to establish a comprehensive statewide EEW system. This effort is a collaboration among several stakeholders, including the California Geological Survey, the University of California, Berkeley, the California Institute of Technology, and the U.S. Geological Survey. This position directly supports a system that aims to protect lives and property throughout the state.

Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.
DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid Driver’s License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. Ensure you provide your DL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

The Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) Division is charged with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the California Earthquake Early Warning System (CEEWS). California’s EEW Program began in 2013 to implement a comprehensive state-wide EEW system in collaboration with stakeholders. The California EEW Program has realized a statewide system that provides critical seconds of warning prior to the strong shaking of an earthquake.

In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, and work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
