Under the general direction of the Mailing Machines Supervisor I, the incumbent operates on a full-time basis the most complex multifunction mail processing equipment. They have journey level experience operating a variety of mailing machines in the processing of outgoing mail. Performs the pre and post operation activities of each mail process to ensure the rules and regulations of the United States Postal Services are met. Ability to organize and maintain stock materials, monitor workflow, and provide quality control as needed.

- Knowledge of metering machines and United States Postal Service (USPS) equipment
- Experience trouble shooting and making minor machinery fixes
- Experience working with mail inserter and sorting machines
- Experience working in an outbound mailroom
- Ability to rapidly learn effective and safe operation of Franchise Tax Board (FTB)’s mailing machines and related equipment
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and write at a level required for successful job performance
- Experience maintaining records and preparing statistical reports
- Ability to work independently, and maintain simple cost and production records
- Ability to walk/stand up to 8 hours daily, and wear closed-toe shoes for safety
- Ability to lift boxes weighing 50 pounds frequently, and up to 70 pounds occasionally
- Experience with outgoing mail sorting equipment/zipcode schemes and/or folders, sealers, cutters and, bursters.
- Experience operating, adjusting, running, and maintaining mailing machines and related equipment
- Knowledge of and experience with personal computers
- Knowledge of Excel and Access programs
- Knowledge and experience of USPS postal regulations, guidelines, and procedures
- Good time management and dependability
- Good communication skills
