Job Description And Duties
Under supervision of the Crime Analyst Supervisor, the CA I is responsible for the comparison and verification of incoming fingerprint and palm print transaction images submitted by law enforcement and applicant agencies with existing department records, and perform the more technical input and update functions to the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). Positive verification of a subject’s identity is accomplished through the AFIS and visually examining fingerprint and palm print impressions and associated documents. The CA I will also access various automated systems including the Automated Criminal History System, Automated Archive System, and Criminal Processor. The CA I is responsible for timely and accurate verifications and is accountable for erroneous conclusions and maintaining production levels established by the Cal-ID Program. Duties may also include Record Review, Jane/John Doe, and Department of Motor Vehicles casework and courtroom testimony.
