Job Description And Duties
The Directorate Division, Office of Communications is looking for a Deputy Speechwriter to actively support the Department of Justice (DOJ) with researching and preparing information for public dissemination associated with the Attorney General's Office through various media forums. Under the direction of the Director and Executive Speechwriter in the Office of Communications, the Deputy Speechwriter is responsible for drafting speeches, talking points, and statements for the Attorney General, in addition to writing and editing press releases, op-eds, and other departmental publications. The Deputy Speechwriter will also be expected to reply to difficult and complex departmental inquiries and correspondence.
Working Conditions
This position has been designated as eligible for telework and is currently a remote-centered position. The position may however require in-person attendance when requested. The selected candidate would report to Department of Justice headquarters in Los Angeles if/when required to attend mandated in-person meetings, trainings, etc. Expenses related to travel to the office for required events are the responsibility of the employee. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.
