Core Responsibilities
- Resolve electrical faults on automated manufacturing machinery to keep production lines moving.
- Identify and fix problems with motors, encoders, drives, control circuits, and sensors to improve equipment reliability.
- Utilize Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal for logic-based troubleshooting on PLC-driven systems.
- Analyze electrical prints, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics to guide repair efforts.
- Execute routine and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure electrical systems remain in peak condition.
- Verify motor health using diagnostic tools like Meggers and multimeters to prevent unexpected failures.
- Maintain and repair 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC electrical infrastructure.
- Replace essential electrical components such as relays, solenoid valves, and proximity switches to support ongoing operations.
- Minimize production downtime by providing rapid response to equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with mechanical staff on tasks like hydraulic valve swaps or bearing replacements to support team objectives.
- Document maintenance activities accurately and maintain clear communication with operations and maintenance staff.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, to foster a safe workplace for everyone.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience performing electrical maintenance within an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex industrial electrical systems effectively.
- Proficiency with 480V systems and motor control hardware.
- Hands-on experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Skilled in working with sensors, photoeyes, encoders, relays, and proximity switches.
- Ability to interpret detailed wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Foundational experience in PLC troubleshooting, with a preference for Siemens platforms.
- Competency in operating standard diagnostic equipment like multimeters and Meggers.
- Flexibility to support mechanical repair tasks when operational needs arise.
- Strong analytical mindset and the ability to work autonomously in high-pressure situations.
- Reliable attendance record combined with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in continuous process or heavy industrial manufacturing.
- Experience within sectors such as automotive, mining, chemical, paper, glass, cement, or steel.
- Specific familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal or Step 7 software.
- Experience diagnosing 4–20mA instrumentation.
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship, technical degree, or industrial maintenance certification.
Work Environment
This is an active, hands-on position within a 24/7 manufacturing plant. Candidates must be prepared to work 12-hour rotating shifts and navigate industrial conditions, including climbing ladders. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maintain safety standards around heavy machinery. All necessary tools and personal protective equipment are supplied.
