Reporting directly to the Shop Supervisor, this role is centered on the upkeep and repair of our production machinery. You will be tasked with ensuring our equipment remains operational and safe through proactive maintenance and rapid response to mechanical failures.
Key Tasks
- Execute the installation, routine upkeep, and repair of sawmill production machinery.
- Support operational continuity by identifying and fixing mechanical failures in a swift, secure manner.
- Carry out preventative maintenance schedules to help reduce unexpected equipment downtime.
- Conduct thorough equipment inspections to ensure optimal safety and peak operational performance.
- Document all service activities and manage parts inventory with high accuracy.
- Collaborate with the operations team to help keep our machinery running at maximum efficiency.
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including established lockout/tagout procedures.
Physical Requirements and Environment
This position operates within a standard industrial plant setting where you will frequently encounter moving mechanical components and varying noise levels. The role demands the ability to lift and transport heavy parts or tools weighing up to 50 pounds. You will be exposed to outdoor elements, wood dust, lubricants, and fluctuating temperatures. The work requires significant physical agility, including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, and maneuvering into confined or awkward spaces to perform repairs. Candidates must possess strong visual acuity, including depth perception and the ability to see clearly at both close and far ranges.
Schedule
The current opening is for a swing shift, running Monday through Thursday from 1:30 PM to 12:00 AM, though specific hours may be negotiated.
