The Opportunity

Byers Industrial Services is actively seeking highly skilled Industrial Electricians and Journeyman Electricians to support our growing industrial electrical construction operations.

We are looking for experienced, hands-on electricians with a minimum of 5 years of verifiable electrical trade experience and a strong background working in industrial, mission-critical, and heavy commercial construction environments.

This is not an entry-level electrical position.

This is also not a Foreman position. We are looking for technically knowledgeable, hands-on electricians who know their trade and can independently perform complex industrial electrical installations without requiring constant supervision.

The right candidate should be capable of stepping onto an active industrial project, reviewing electrical drawings and specifications, understanding the assigned scope of work, identifying installation requirements, and completing the work safely, efficiently, and correctly.

Our electrical projects may include Data Centers, Electrical Substations, Food & Beverage Facilities, Warehouse & Distribution Centers, Manufacturing Facilities, Industrial Plants, Mission-Critical Facilities, and Heavy Commercial Construction.

Scope of Work

Depending on project assignment, electricians may perform work involving:

• Install EMT, Rigid/IMC, and PVC conduit systems
• Layout, bend, cut, thread, and install conduit ranging from 3/4" through 4"
• Perform conduit bends including 90s, offsets, kicks, rolling offsets, 3-point saddles, 4-point saddles, and other complex bends
• Layout and install conduit racks, trapeze supports, strut systems, hangers, and electrical equipment supports
• Install underground and overhead raceway systems
• Install basket tray, ladder tray, and other cable tray systems
• Install and support busway and bus duct systems
• Perform branch circuit, feeder, and heavy wire and cable installations
• Perform wire and cable pulls ranging from 12 AWG through large conductors up to 750 kcmil
• Prepare, route, dress, identify, and terminate conductors and cables
• Install and terminate switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, disconnects, and electrical distribution equipment
• Install and terminate Motor Control Centers (MCCs), motors, starters, and associated control systems
• Install, wire, and terminate Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Work with 120/208V, 277/480V, and three-phase electrical systems
• Perform industrial power and distribution installations
• Install and terminate field wiring associated with PLCs, industrial control panels, automation systems, and I/O
• Install industrial control wiring and instrumentation-related electrical systems
• Perform low-voltage electrical and control installations

• Support electrical shutdowns, system upgrades, renovations, and new construction installations
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, equipment, controls, and field installations
• Use multimeters and other electrical testing equipment to diagnose electrical problems and verify installations
• Maintain installations in accordance with project drawings, specifications, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and applicable safety requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of verifiable electrical trade experience
• Strong hands-on background in industrial electrical construction
• Journeyman-level candidates should possess 7 years of electrical trade experience
• Ability to independently perform complex electrical installations without constant supervision
• Strong knowledge of industrial raceway systems and electrical installation methods
• Strong conduit bending and layout capabilities
• Experience installing EMT, Rigid/IMC, and PVC conduit
• Experience with larger conduit and complex conduit installations strongly preferred
• Experience installing cable tray, conduit racks, supports, and associated raceway systems
• Experience performing heavy wire and cable pulls, including large feeders and conductors
• Strong understanding of electrical terminations and power distribution systems
• Experience working with three-phase electrical systems
• Experience with 277/480V industrial power systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, drawings, and specifications
• Working knowledge of transformers, switchgear, switchboards, panels, disconnects, and electrical distribution equipment
• Experience with MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, industrial controls, or automation systems strongly preferred
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
• Proficient with multimeters, electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Ability to safely operate boom lifts and scissor lifts; practical evaluation may be required
• OSHA 10 strongly preferred; OSHA 30 is a plus
• Must successfully complete required pre-employment drug screening

• Ability to work overtime, extended shifts, and weekends based on project requirements

What We're Looking For

We are looking for industrial electricians who know their trade.

We are not looking for candidates whose experience is limited primarily to residential or basic light-commercial electrical work.

Strong candidates should understand more than simply how to install conduit and pull wire. We are looking for electricians with broad industrial knowledge who understand how electrical systems are installed, connected, powered, controlled, tested, and troubleshot.

Depending on experience level, candidates should possess working knowledge across multiple areas including:

• Industrial raceway systems
• EMT, Rigid/IMC, and PVC conduit
• Cable tray systems
• Busway and bus duct
• Heavy wire and cable
• Large conductor pulls and terminations
• Three-phase electrical systems
• Transformers
• Switchgear and switchboards
• Industrial power distribution
• MCCs and motor controls
• VFDs
• PLC-related wiring
• Industrial controls and automation
• Low-voltage systems
• Medium- and high-voltage distribution
• Electrical testing and troubleshooting

You do not need to be a Foreman or have experience managing large crews.

We are specifically interested in experienced, technically knowledgeable electricians who take pride in their craftsmanship, understand industrial electrical systems, and can perform at a high level in demanding construction environments.

Compensation

$28.00–$40.00 per hour, DOE

Compensation will be determined based on years of experience, industrial electrical background, technical capabilities, project experience, licensing/certifications, and demonstrated ability to independently execute complex electrical installations.

Candidates approaching the upper end of the range should possess advanced, well-rounded industrial electrical capabilities across multiple systems and scopes of work.

Highly experienced Journeyman and Lead Journeyman-level Electricians are strongly encouraged to apply.

State-licensed electricians may qualify for different compensation ranges depending on licensing requirements, project location, and assignment.

Schedule

Electricians should be prepared to work approximately 50–70 hours per week, depending on project requirements.

Schedules may include Monday–Friday, Saturdays, Sundays, extended shifts, overtime, shutdowns, and critical project schedules.

Flexibility is required based on project demands.
